$97b industry destroying lives

-

Job 31: 1 says, “I have made a covenant with my eyes; why then should I look upon a young woman?”

THE EYES are the windows/gates to the soul and, when the eyes are open, everything that goes through affects the entire body. Many of the problems we encounter come through the eyes. What we hear, see or speak is critical to our health – spiritually and naturally. This should cause us to realise why we have so many problems within the society. If we are going to talk about the music, then we must also willingly address the matter of pornography.

Even the way in which influential ones in the society attire themselves makes an impact on the society. For example, there was a period where influential ones in the society had a certain focus. They were dressed in their business suits and had a general focus towards presenting themselves in a manner that commanded not only attention, but respect as well.

Today, many of the influential people are barely clothed, and many look up to and emulate them.

Pornography is ‘sexually explicit videos, photographs, writings, or the like, whose purpose is to elicit sexual arousal.’ That being stated, we have to wonder if people are aware that their influence would fall into this category. When we look at Hollywood, the music industry, local and global media – even the cartoon channels, books, magazines, video games, swing/gentlemen’s clubs – GOD HELP US!

Scientists are stating that pornography negatively affects the brain. Seventy-nine per cent of those involved in pornography are also involved in marijuana, alcohol and are carrying out physical and verbal abuse. There are also corresponding increases in crime, sexting, and it is causing road accidents.

Even the gospel singers – both male and female – are dressed in a manner that is far from the modesty required of them.

The pornography industry has caused an increase in marital infidelity by 300 per cent. Action needs to be taken.
