Cari-Med’s Employee of the Year

-

ASK AMANDA Williams about her role models and high on the list is her father, Ezekiel, whom she describes as “a very hard worker”. This trait has obviously been passed on to his daughter as the petite accounting clerk was named Employee of the Year at Cari-Med Limited’s employee awards ceremony recently. In fact, she walked away with two awards as she was also named top performer in her department for financial year 2015-16.

Cari-Med’s Employee of the Year award is made annually to the employee with the highest average from the twice yearly performance appraisal. The employee should have demonstrated team spirit, altruism, and creativity on the job, and also be involved in extra-curricular activities at Cari-Med or in the wider community.

Williams’s manager describes her as “a ray of sunshine” and someone who is always willing to take on a little extra. She acknowledges this, noting that it is very important to learn new things.

“Sometimes during my appraisals, my supervisor will assign me something that I have never done before and I’m like, ‘Sure’, because it’s good to learn something new from each person’s desk. That way, if someone is absent and I am asked to help out, I will be able to do so,” Williams said.

Despite a demanding work schedule, Williams, who is from Brandon Hill, St Andrew, is an active member of the Brandon Hill Youth Club. When not working or joining fellow club members in outreach activities, she enjoys spending time with her nineyear-old son, Omarion.

Williams is full of praise for her team members in the accounts department, especially her supervisor, Shaunette Francis-Fullerton, who she describes as a great mentor.
