Keznamdi debuts at number three, Scratch at 98
KEZNAMDI HAS made a strong debut on the iTunes Reggae Albums chart, his Skyline Levels, Vol. 1 set placing third on the listing for just before 10 a.m. yesterday. Ahead of it are the standard Legend quinella by Bob Marley and the Wailers, the Remastered version in first and Deluxe Edition second.
Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry’s new release, Science, Magic, Logic, is in the 98th slot.
Apart from Keznamdi’s debut the top 10 has some familiar names. Set in Stone (Stick Figure) is at number four and another Bob Marley and the Wailers set, Gold, is fifth.
Rebelution has two albums in the top 10, as Courage to Grow is sixth and Peace of Mind (Deluxe) is 10th. Common Kings’ Lost in Paradise is at number seven, Collie Buddz self-titled set is eighth and Iration’s Time Bomb is ninth.
Just outside the top 10 is yet another Rebelution album, Falling into Place.
An interesting title is the number 15 Music Unites – Reggae Around the World, Vol 7, a various artistes set which has tracks by Tunnel Vision, Josh Hendricks, Cas Haley and Passafire, among other vocalists. For good measure, Bob Marley and the Wailers and Rebelution have more material in the top 20. The former’s Live Forever: The Stanley Theatre, Pittsburgh, PA, September 23, 1980, is at number 18, with Rebelution’s Bright Side of Life (Bonus Track Version) at 19.
The Forever Riddim, a new release, is at number 30. On that set, Alkaline has Pretty Girl Team, Mavado has Forever, I-Octane has Long Time and Kranium does Give Thanks.
Chronixx, who is currently on tour in the US, has Dread & Terrible in the 46th position. Shabba Ranks and Peter Tosh have hit collections close together. Shabba’s Greatest Hits is number 50 and Tosh’s Super Hits is at 51. Another compilation, Ultimate Collection: Burning Spear is at number 86. He has another album on the chart as Marcus Garvey is 94th, just ahead of Lutan Fyah’s Music Never Dies.
