Congratulations on your new milestone

-

ACROSS THE world, education is regarded as a cornerstone of human development. I congratulate the leadership of Spanish Town High School, past and present, for their invaluable role in moulding the mental, spiritual, emotional and physical development of several of our nation’s children over the past 50 years.

‘Aim For Excellence’, which is the school’s motto, signals strong appreciation of how important it is to maintain high standards not only in the classroom, but in every facet of life. That commitment to aid in the holistic development of students has been personified in co-curricular activities and the resultant high achievements in sports and the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission competitions.

Albert Einstein once said, “If you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” I am pleased that your curriculum not only focuses on academics, but also places emphasis on nurturing the creativity and innovativeness of students through a wide range of vocational offerings.

ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS

I am also encouraged by your efforts to nurture in your students the consciousness to be stewards of the environment, especially with the Eco Plastic Recycling initiative.

As you continue to pen the history of your institution, it is my hope that you will build on your accomplishments so that successive generations of students will have an illustrious legacy on which to expand.

Happy anniversary and best wishes for the future! SIR PATRICK ALLEN Governor General
