Years of changes and overcoming obstacles

-

IT IS with great pleasure that I join in congratulating Spanish Town High School on the occasion of their 50th anniversary and, more importantly, for their achievements over the years.

Established since 1967, the school has undergone many changes and overcome obstacles to be recognised as an institution of merit that has been cemented as a place of respect in the parish. It is a journey that is indicative of the institution’s commitment to education in St Catherine. Spanish Town High continues to be a pillar for the overall development and improved standard of living for the surrounding communities. Today, with a family of 2,265 students, the school continues to mould young minds and fulfil its mandate of good quality education.

I have noted that Spanish Town High has worked assiduously at

this crucial stage of their lives, to empower every student with the complete package of social and vocational skills, and academic achievement so as to prepare them for the harmonious integration with society for personal success.

As you pause and reflect on all your achievements and challenges the school has faced and overcome, may the experience gained over these past 50 years provide guidance as you chart the course for the next half of century. Again, congratulations on the achievement of this significant milestone, and best wishes for continued growth and success. SENATOR RUEL REID Minister of Education, Youth and Information
