Albert Swaby is first-quarter winner in VMBS promotion
ALBERT SWABY epitomises the phrase ‘luck is a matter of preparation meeting opportunity’. Swaby is not a believer in dumb luck but takes the matter of financial preparation seriously, and as such, he was declared the first winner in the Victoria Mutual Million Dollar Winners Club Promotion.
Swaby recently received the welcome news during a recording of The Susan Show that focused on financial independence.
Swaby, who has been a member of the society for the past five years, noted that he was not entirely shocked that he won, having entered the competition with winning in mind.
“It is an exhilarating feeling knowing that my commitment to saving has rewarded me with a million dollars,” he said.
The member-focused institution, which fulfils its purpose to build its members’ financial independence through rewarding financial prudence, launched the VM Million Dollar Winners Club in January 2017. The promotion is aimed at encouraging and rewarding savers.

“Unlike our promotions in the past, we are rewarding our savers with cold, hard cash, and they have the choice to use the funds for whichever goal they wish to attain on their financial independence journey,” said Peter Reid, CEO, building society operations.
Reid added that Swaby’s win reinforced that at Victoria Mutual, everything is done for the members’
benefit and that it pays to save with VMBS.
VMBS savers or deposit account holders with a minimum of $20,000 in their accounts will automatically be entered and will also receive one chance for every $20,000 in new funds added to their savings or deposit account during the period January 30, 2017 to December 29, 2017.
Winners will be randomly selected
electronically and must be able to repeat the group’s tagline, ‘Building your financial independence’, in order to receive the prize.
