EDX now an export product

Festival to be staged both in USVI and Jamaica

-

BUILDING ON the momentum of last year’s hugely successful, inaugural staging of EDX in Ocho Rios, St Ann, the investors have committed to packaging Jamaica’s electronic music festival into an attractive and highly competitive export product.

The 2017 staging of the exciting EDM event will take place not only in Kingston, Jamaica, but also in St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands (USVI).

Appropriately titled EDX – Full Flight, the St Thomas USVI leg of the event – which is endorsed by the island’s tourist board – takes place on June 3, at the world-class Sugar Bay Resort and Spa, St Thomas, and the islanders are ready for the highly charged musical invasion. When asked why St Thomas was chosen as the place for the very first EDX to be held outside of Jamaica, Mark Tracey, one of the brains behind the event explained that it was actually St Thomas who chose them.

RAVE REVIEWS

“A promoter from St Thomas received rave reviews about last year’s show, and he reached out to us ... and as they say, the rest is history,” Tracey said simply.

Quite enthused about the line-up, he noted that among the acts will be Christopher Martin, who is embracing EDM, and who is also well loved in the Virgin Islands; DJ Blak, a third-generation EDM and soca DJ, whose Blaknation followers stretch way beyond his native St Thomas; Rocalypso pioneer and one-man band, John Gazi, along with one of the stars of last year’s event, one of the most dynamic EDM group out of California, Bad Royale. Bad Royale will all be in action in St Thomas, as well as in Kingston, Jamaica at EDX Touch Down, scheduled for July 1, at Seventh Harbour which is along the Palisadoes.

Tickets go on sale May 20, both online at firstinlineja.com and at various outlets across the island.

Tracey pointed out that this year the organisers will be conducting a raffle, and one lucky person will win an all-expense paid trip to EDX Full Flight in St Thomas, USVI.

The raffle will be done using all ticket numbers and online purchase bought between May 20 and May 29. Early bird purchases will also qualify. The winner must also be a follower of either EDX on Instagram or Facebook. For patrons in St Thomas, there will be a bikini contest on the day of the event, and the winner will receive a trip to Jamaica to attend EDX Touch Down.
