Lionel Town Police Station gets well-needed facelift
LIONEL TOWN, Clarendon: THE LIONEL Town Police Station enjoyed a well-needed facelift and landscaping, thanks to police personnel from May Pen and other divisions in Clarendon, as well as members of the police youth club and residents of the community, including local church pastors.
Powered by the Labour Day theme ‘Restore, Preserve and Beautify’, the volunteers set about doing just that as the station’s badly deteriorated paint job and run-down surroundings were restored.
With the task force led by Clarendon’s Commander herself, Senior Superintendent of Police Vendolyn Cameron Powell, the team cleaned up the station ground and painted sections of the facility.
According to Inspector Owen Brown, sub-officer in charge of the Community Safety and Security Branch, Clarendon Division, seeing the ‘chief’ handling her brush as anyone else served as motivation for the local police officers.
“Indeed, it was a day packed with activities. It was a morale booster for the police officers just to see their commanding officer out there painting,” Inspector Owen Brown told Rural Xpress.
For him, it was also an opportunity for the police force to bond with the community.
“Police community relations were heightened, where we saw members of the community coming out to help, and the Lionel Town Police
Youth Club also came out there in their numbers,” Brown informed.
