Action heats up in Sunshine Cereals County netball league

As the battle for supremacy gets closer to crunch time, Sunshine Cereals has once again expressed satisfacti­on with their decision to sponsor Netball Jamaica’s Intermedia­te County League.

The competitio­n enters its quarter-final stage this afternoon with matches at the Leila Robinson Courts in Kingston and Keisha Prince, brand manager, Sunshine Cereals Jamaica, Confection­ery and Snacks Jamaica Limited, noted the role it plays in developing talent for the sport.

“Sunshine Cereals is elated to be the title sponsor for Netball Jamaica’s Intermedia­te County League for the third consecutiv­e year,” said Prince.

“Sunshine Cereals strongly believes in and supports this venture that showcases and develops talent that can transition to the next level and can represent our country internatio­nally,” she added.

The league is an expansion of the parish league, from which the leading teams were grouped in counties for the first time to compete nationally. Before this, only in the corporate area and St. Catherine, Clarendon and St. James, was the sport packaged in a way to facilitate high level competitio­n. Prince highlighte­d the move. “We are pleased that Netball Jamaica has taken t he bold step t o take t his league across the island and are happy to partner with them to achieve their overall goals and objective,” she said.

In today’s games, there are three intermedia­te clashes set to begin at 6 p.m. Corporate Area units Global ‘ A’ an d Excelsior Eagles will meet in Surrey action while St Catherine’s Friendship will take on Manchester ’s Jetters in Middlesex competitio­n.

Meanwhile, there will also be action in the Supreme Ventures Major League, with four matches in regional action featuring teams from Surrey and Middlesex at 7 p.m. In Middlesex matches Clarendon’s Jamalco will face G.C. Foster ‘A’ and Manchester ’s Titans will go up against G.C. Foster ‘B’.

Surrey’s matches feature all Corporate Area teams, with Molynes ‘ A’ and Co r p o r a t e Ar e a ch a m p i o n s U Te ch ‘ A’ squaring off and Corporate Area runnersup, UWI, set to face Arnett ‘A’.
