Hallelujah shouts at Heart Praise Worship Fest
WORSHIPPERS GOT down on their knees, older folks got out of their chairs, tears streamed down the faces of many while others, with hands raised, shouted hallelujah praises.
It was the eighth staging of the Heart Praise Worship Fest and families came out in support of the only gospel event of its quality and nature to be held in the parish of St Thomas.
Changing its usual location, the grand Labour Day gospel concert found new abode on the lawns of Lyssons Pavilion, a long-time go-to venue for large events in the parish.
The family event, which is sponsored by iCool, saw people of all ages enjoying live performances from some of the top names in gospel, including Papa San, Jermaine Edwards, Rondell Positive, Kimola Brown-Lowe, and Jermaine Gordon.
The now Christian comedian, Ity Ellis, also graced the stage with his acts, which had the crowd crying with laughter.
CONTROL OVER THEIR LIVES
Also ensuring a good time throughout the evening was emcee and comedian Dwight ‘Barrel Man’ Ross.
Promoter and artiste, Rondell Positive, on Tuesday, told Family and Religion that although the crowd was not as big as it was last year, he was pleased to say that the event in itself had grown exponentially.
“I think it paid off. The people are excited and I know that after tonight it (Heart Praise) will be on the lips of many who are already looking forward to our next event,” he said, describing the experience as a success.
Speaking on the show’s line-up, Rondell said that the organisers (Healthy Music Group) did just what they were inspired by God to do. Rondell Positive
“We expected the experience, you know, because it’s all about having dominion, so if you have dominion, you must expect the kingdom of God to come down and touch Earth,” he said in relation to the reaction of patrons to the performance of powerhouse Kimola Brown-Lowe.
The night’s proceedings happened under the theme ‘Dominion’, and supporters were encouraged to take control over their lives and to retrieve all that the Devil had stolen from them.
According to Rondell: “Every man was born for a purpose. When God thought about making man, He decided immediately that He wanted them to have dominion over the things of the Earth.
“People nowadays are losing sight of that, especially in the church, because they continue to reach a gospel that is of themselves and not necessarily the gospel that Jesus preached. Every time Jesus opened His mouth to preach, He spoke of the Kingdom. Notice, He didn’t say seek ye first Jesus. He said seek ye first the Kingdom.
“Our message is to bless people and to help them recognise that they are purpose.”
