Priory FC hoping third time’s the charm

GENERAL MANAGER of the Priory Football Club Santano Miller said that he hopes the St Ann club will be third-time lucky in their quest for qualification to next season’s Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL).

Priory advanced to the Jamaica Football Federation National Premier League play-offs after beating Seaforth of St Thomas, 2-0, in the Eastern Confederation final at Drax Hall on Sunday.

Carlos Barrett netted both goals for Priory in the 8th and 68th minutes.

“This is the first season under our new name. We changed from Volvo and are now named Priory,” Miller told The Gleaner.

“We have a bunch of players who are playing well. We do recruitment of players and have a good squad. The club has won the Major League title, Eastern Confed title, and are in the St Ann Knockout final,” he said.

Priory joined KSAFA champions Cavalier SC, South Central Confederation winners Rivoli United, and Western Confederation champions Sandals South Coast in the Premier League play-offs.

At the completion of the play-off series, the top two teams will qualify for the 2017-18 Red Stripe Premier League season.

“We are extremely confident in winning the play-offs and making it to the Premier League for the first time. Before the start of the season, we outlined the objectives to the team, and they are confident in winning all titles this season,” Miller also said.

They added players such as Donovan Hinds, David Boswell, Carlos Barrett and Maurico Gordon to boost the squad. Ocho Rios High da Costa Cup coach Carlington Dodd and his technical team have been guiding the team.
