Eight pre-qualify to bid for NMIA
PRE-QUALIFIED BIDDERS for the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) includes two of Jamaica’s conglomerates, the Mexican company that already holds the concession for Jamaica’s largest airport and Chinese construction firm CHEC.
Development Bank of Jamaica on Monday released a list of eight investors pre-qualified to submit bids to operate, finance, develop and maintain NMIA under concession. They are: Vinci Airports SAS Cedicor SA Acciona Concessiones SL/Airports Company South Africa Soc Limited/Acciona Airports Services SA GMR Infrastructure Limited ZAIA-APORT Consortium, comprising Zurich Airport International AG/A-Port Operaciones SA/A-Port Chile SA Grupo Aeroportuario Del Pacifico SAB de CV Corporacion Aeroportuario Del Este SAS/China Harbour Engineering Company Limited/Gulfstream Petroleum S de RL/Jamaica Producers Group Limited EGIS Projects SA/GraceKennedy Company Jamaica Limited/Lagan Construction International Limited. The development bank said it would issue Request for Proposals to these firms and that a preferred bidder is expected to be selected from those who follow through with bids by March 2018.
The eight pre-qualified firms were selected from nine that met the May 1 deadline for applications.
NMIA is owned by Airports Authority of Jamaica and is currently operated by subsidiary company NMIA Airport Limited.
