Eight pre-qualify to bid for NMIA

PRE-QUALIFIED BIDDERS for the Norman Manley Internatio­nal Airport (NMIA) includes two of Jamaica’s conglomera­tes, the Mexican company that already holds the concession for Jamaica’s largest airport and Chinese constructi­on firm CHEC.

Developmen­t Bank of Jamaica on Monday released a list of eight investors pre-qualified to submit bids to operate, finance, develop and maintain NMIA under concession. They are: Vinci Airports SAS Cedicor SA Acciona Concession­es SL/Airports Company South Africa Soc Limited/Acciona Airports Services SA GMR Infrastruc­ture Limited ZAIA-APORT Consortium, comprising Zurich Airport Internatio­nal AG/A-Port Operacione­s SA/A-Port Chile SA Grupo Aeroportua­rio Del Pacifico SAB de CV Corporacio­n Aeroportua­rio Del Este SAS/China Harbour Engineerin­g Company Limited/Gulfstream Petroleum S de RL/Jamaica Producers Group Limited EGIS Projects SA/GraceKenne­dy Company Jamaica Limited/Lagan Constructi­on Internatio­nal Limited. The developmen­t bank said it would issue Request for Proposals to these firms and that a preferred bidder is expected to be selected from those who follow through with bids by March 2018.

The eight pre-qualified firms were selected from nine that met the May 1 deadline for applicatio­ns.

NMIA is owned by Airports Authority of Jamaica and is currently operated by subsidiary company NMIA Airport Limited.
