Where is the customer parking at CSO?

-

THE EDITOR, Sir: I WENT to the Central Sorting Office (CSO) on Thursday to send a parcel to the United States of America at about 11 a.m. and could not get a parking space. There were two designated areas which were fenced off. I went away and said to myself that business is booming for the post office again and so I would return later, nearer to closing time.

I returned at about minutes to 4 p.m. and the car park was still occupied, so I decided to wait a while. I waited for about five minutes and got a parking space.

RENTED SPACE

When I went into the post office, the number of persons there could not fill the parking area, even if each person had driven. On enquiring where we are to park, as customers, I was told that part of the CSO building has been rented and the designated areas are for staff and tenants. I was also told that with the ATM booth, that may have contributed to no parking space. We cannot park on Norman Road as the sidewalk is marked in yellow and that would be a breach, and customers’ motor vehicles would be towed away.

I am not buying into those flimsy explanations.

It is the CSO’s responsibility/ duty to provide adequate parking space for their customers.

The ATM booth has been there long ago and it is the first time I am seeing this clutter. When I was going into the post office, only five persons were at the booth and on leaving, there was no one there, and there was still no parking space. Only one person came into the post office after me.

My intuition is telling me that the staff is using the customers’ parking area.

We keep speaking in this country about scamming and extortion, but it comes in all forms. Why can’t the CSO apply to the KSAC for permit for their staff to park in designated areas on Norman Road, or the road leading to Guardsman, so that their customers can do business?
