Jamaican Teas launches ‘Dream Initiative’

-

THE JAMAICAN Teas Limited team was out toiling recently as they launched their Dream Initiative in the rural farming community of Slipe in southwestern St Elizabeth.

The Dream Initiative seeks to support and develop projects geared at crime and violence prevention, sports and education, youth empowerment and mentorship, advocacy, human rights, as well as social and economic justice.

The first major project under the Jamaica Teas Limited Dream Initiative focused on education and saw the company investing generously in infrastructural work aimed at improving the learning environment at the Slipe Leased Primary School located in St Elizabeth.

WORKING TIRELESSLY

Members of the Jamaican Teas ‘Dream Team’, along with a group of volunteers, worked tirelessly on a number of refurbishing activities, including the erection of walls to demarcate classrooms, the replacement of old chalkboards with new whiteboards, and the painting of both the interior and exterior walls of the school.

Group Marketing Manager of Jamaican Teas Limited Charles Barrett expressed delight at the work done so far and explained that Slipe Leased Primary was selected based on critical needs and its designation as a remote rural school with very little resources. He said that Jamaican Teas is cognisant of its corporate social responsibility, and importantly, support of rural development.

“Our success as a company is as a result of the support we get from our consumers, hence, it is quite fitting that as we prosper, communities too should prosper. We will continue to play a role to develop, restore, advocate, empower and motivate.”

Underscoring the significance of Dream Initiative, John Mahfood, CEO of Jamaican Teas Limited, said the thematic areas of crime and violence prevention, education, and human rights, reflect key developmental challenges for Jamaica and that the company is committed to engaging in and supporting programmes aimed at assisting Jamaica in becoming the place of choice to live, raise families and do business.
