Congratulations on your tremendous track record, Denbigh

-

IEXTEND best wishes to the Jamaica Agricultural Society (JAS) on the 65th staging of the Denbigh Agricultural, Industrial and Food Show. This highly acclaimed show has commendably earned the distinction of being the oldest, largest, and most dynamic agricultural show in the Englishspeaking Caribbean.

Congratulations on your tremendous track record that has shown over 80,000 patrons gracing the Denbigh showgrounds for this event annually. That alone reflects the quality of your programme. Thank you also for believing, supporting and helping to sustain the ‘Grow What You Eat, Eat What You Grow’ campaign. The JAS certainly possesses the dynamism which separates the ordinary from the extraordinary.

I give special recognition to the Young Farmers’ Competition. It is a delight to see our young people conceptualising innovative and cutting-edge farming practices. They are the future and I must thank you for providing them with a platform to excel. Simultaneously, I commend you on your efforts to promote women in farming through programmes such as the National Champion Woman Farmer and the National Farm Queen competitions. The Jamaican agricultural sector has overcome many challenges and has consistently helped to increase national productivity, all of which has been made possible by your hard work. When I examine the excellent reviews coming out of the Denbigh Agricultural, Industrial and Food Show each year, I am confident that our nation’s farmers are delivering high-quality produce. I salute all the farmers across Jamaica and commend the scores of Jamaicans who continuously support the industry. None of your efforts have gone unnoticed, you are true nation builders. As the Denbigh Agricultural, Industrial and Food Show celebrates 65 years, and the JAS reflects on its past accomplishments, may this moment of history also be used as a guiding light as you continue to transform the agricultural landscape of Jamaica. Happy 65th anniversary. God bless you! HIS EXCELLENCY THE MOST HON SIR PATRICK ALLEN ON, GCMG, CD, KSt.J GOVERNOR GENERAL
