THIS YEAR we proudly celebrate the 65th staging of the Denbigh Agricultural, Industrial and Food Show. This showpiece event embodies the finest of Jamaican agriculture, production and culture as our people show the dedication and commitment to an area which is making a significant contribution to economic growth and prosperity in the country.

My administration fully endorses agriculture as being the backbone of our economy. We are well aware that the industry plays a strategic role in the advancement of our global competiveness. It is critical that we continue to match our ‘natural’ resources with ‘opportunity’.

The Denbigh Agricultural Show has built a reputation of celebrating the hard work and skill of primary producers. This rich and vibrant expo provides wholesome family entertainment and showcases the wealth of talent in Jamaica. I extend special commendations to all the stakeholders on recognising the importance of organising events of this nature. The Government applauds The Jamaica Agricultural Society (JAS) on being committed to supporting efficiency in agricultural production. Your organisation has been instrumental in reminding us of the wealth in our soil. My administration also thanks all committee members, farmers, entertainers, and supporters who continue to make valuable contributions to the Denbigh Show. We strongly encourage the JAS to continue this worthwhile endeavour and hope that your intervention will have a far-reaching impact as we work to make Jamaica a prosperous nation.
