Hats off to Denbigh team

-

THE EDITOR, Sir: This is an open letter to Mr Norman Grant and the team at the Jamaica Agricultural Society, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture & Fisheries, and all involved in the execution of Denbigh 2017.

IT WAS with tremendous pride that I walked around the showgrounds at Denbigh this year. As I passed through the various booths of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture & Fisheries, I noticed a vast improvement in the way the team members engaged me and they seemed anxious to offer their expertise. It was truly refreshing.

The parish pavilions were also very impressive. The level of organisation, cleanliness and attention to detail really demonstrated that people cared about what they were doing.

I finally walked through the animal pens and observed a part of the cattle-judging process. The improvement in the quality of animals across the board this year was noticeable, and choosing winners proved very difficult.

The general management of the grounds and the overall setting showed a marked improvement over last year. Congratulations! You all did a great job that did not go unnoticed.

It was very apparent that the pride in farming and the desire to be outstanding farmers are returning to Jamaica. CHRISTOPHER LEVY McCook’s Pen St Catherine
