DR CORETTA Mathie, president and founder of the Scottsdale, Arizona-based Mission of Hope and Grace, recently led a team to Jamaica to make a difference.

A nurse by profession, Mathie received her doctorate in business administration and theology, having realised that healing goes beyond medicine and includes the grace of the Lord.

She left Jamaica earlier this month after arriving in July, with her daughter Melinda and son Jaleel, and supported by a team of Jamaicans, staged a crusade at Linton Park, near Watt Town in St Ann.

“We came here to introduce a mission to Jamaica that we do in Africa, it’s Christ for the Rural World,” Mathie told Rural Xpress.

The crusade was not just the regular ministering, but also included a fun day for the children on July 22, and a donation to the St Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital.

DONATIONS

Mathie donated a wide range of equipment to the institution, including blood pressure monitors, thermometers, nebulisers, foetal monitors, stethoscopes, along with bed sheets and other items.

The hospital CEO, Leo Garel, received the items and expressed gratitude on behalf of the institution.

Mathie said St Ann’s Bay Regional was selected because it is in the region where the crusade was held.

The nearby St Ann Infirmary benefited from a donation of bed sheets, also items which the nurse pointed out were made locally, in Spanish Town.

Most of the donation, she added, were her own contribution. She is hoping that the mission will become a yearly one, or even twice per year. The team also spent two days in St Mary staging a healing and deliverance crusade.

Mathie is appealing for help in terms of donations and personnel to donate their time to the cause.

Meanwhile, mission liaison officer, Orville Harris, hailed the mission a success and is looking forward to the future.

“It’s blossoming into a good partnership,” Harris said on Tuesday.
