Nutramix helping to mould agri sector movers and shakers
FEED COMPANY Nutramix understands the important role that women play in the multibillion-dollar agriculture sector and for the third consecutive year returned as title sponsor for the National Farm Queen Competition.
The contest highlights the often-overlooked intellectual side of the agricultural sector, shining a light on the work of women in the field and is one of the major highlights of the three-day showcase.
The competition, over the years, has built a platform for these young ladies, some of whom are studying and/or working in the field of agriculture to build and enhance their skills in communication, deepen their knowledge of the agriculture sector, poise in presentations, and confidence in individual abilities for personal and professional growth.
TECHNICAL PAPER
A major component of the competition is the presentation of a technical paper and the creation of an original performance piece from the same concept by each contestant.
“I have always been thoroughly impressed in how these girls prepare for the competition. Many people do not know that they need to write a paper on a trending agricultural issue. They are judged on this paper, and they also have to create a performance piece with the same theme. People need to know how in tune these women are with the agricultural issues
in their own communities,” says Tina Hamilton, brand manager for Nutramix.
Nutramix has remained committed to supporting youths and women in agriculture, building supporting environments to foster their growth. The
company feels driving more youth towards agriculture is fundamental in ensuring national food security and sustainable agriculture in Jamaica is realised.
“The new generation is the key to continuing the advancement of the industry. There are so
many new ideas and access to new technologies that will help the agriculture sector regain its stronghold in moving the economy forward. Proper succession planning for the sector is essential for future growth.” Hamilton noted.
