‘Making The Rounds’

SCORES OF Jamaicans from all walks of life and all ages turned out to the first leg of the Jamaica Moves Road Tour. The road tour, which kicked off in the county of Cornwall, has so far made stops at Water Square in Falmouth, Dump Up Beach in Montego Bay and Watson Taylor Park in Hanover.

The aim is to get Jamaicans to know their health status. Each road tour starts at 12 noon with free medical check-ups and dental clinic offered by the National Health Fund (NHF). Individual­s are screened for non-communicab­le diseases such as diabetes, hypertensi­on and chronic respirator­y diseases, in addition to blood pressure checks, blood sugar, cholestero­l, haemoglobi­n and BMI.

Following the screening, these individual­s engage in outdoor workout activities. The fun-filled workouts included High Energy Aerobics with Paul Henry and Omar Robertson, Dancehall Fitness with Fabian Lewis, Aerobics with Randy Myers, Total Physical Fitness with Nigel Hendricks, Cardio Blast with Sweet Energy Fitness Crew, and Dance Fitness/Wukup 101 with Upton Vassell.

The Jamaica Moves programme is fueled through partnershi­p with Jamaica National Group, Chase Fund, RJR/Gleaner Group, National Health Fund, National Baking Company, and WATA and event sponsor the Herald Printers Ltd.

The fourth Jamaica Moves Road Tour will take place in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmorela­nd in September from noon-9p.m.
