EXECUTIVE VICE-PRESIDENT of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Julie T. Katzman, will pay an official visit to Jamaica on September 6 and 7.

During her visit, Mrs. Katzman, who is currently responsible for managing the overall operations of the IDB in Latin America and the Caribbean, will meet with senior government officials and leaders in the public and private sectors to discuss Jamaica’s economic and social development and how the IDB can continue to support various initiatives designed to improve lives.

While in Jamaica, Mrs. Katzman, along with IDB Jamaica Country Representative Therese Turner-Jones and a small contingent of IDB directors and officials, will also visit a few largescale private-sector developments and projects.

At the IDB, Mrs. Katzman is pioneering an institutional transformation to further the bank’s emphasis on achieving, measuring and reporting tangible results, and improving access and availability of these results through innovative management and visualization tools.

The executive Vice-president is also championing progressive diversity and inclusion and women’s economic empowerment agendas. It is against this background that she will be moderating a high-level IDB gender forum focused on empowering men and women to improve lives, with special emphasis on at-risk boys. The closed forum is scheduled for September 6.

The IDB is the largest provider of development finance to the public and private sectors in Latin America and the Caribbean and has been Jamaica’s main development partner for more than 46 years.
