Petrojam, Scotiabank to clash in Business House final

DEFENDING CHAMPIONS Petrojaman­d Scotiabank will contest this year’s final of the Western Sports-Kingston and St Andrew Business House Division One Football League, this after contrastin­g victories on Saturday.

Petrojam, who are coached by former national player, Lenworth ‘Teacher’ Hyde, defeated MetroDade 3-1 at the Alpha Boys’ Home. Fabian Reid, Renae Lloyd, and Acatharoy Bygrave were the scorers for Petrojam, while Jerome Nelson scored the lone goal for MetroDade.

At Winchester Park, Scotiabank, led by a double from Donovan Alvaranga, whipped the RJR-Gleaner Communicat­ions Group 4-1. Alvaranga, a former employee of the RJR-Gleaner Communicat­ions Group, netted his goals in the second and 52nd minutes.

Nicholas Scott, in the 29th minute, and substitute Davion Garrison in the 83rd minute, were the other scorers for Scotiabank, while Locksley Thompson scored the consolatio­n goal for the RJR-Gleaner Communicat­ions Group.

Scotiabank’s coach Marcel Gayle said he was very happy with his team’s performanc­e and they are now looking forward to Saturday’s final against Petrojam.

“I thought we played well, but at the end of the game, we got a little carried away. But it is not too much to be concerned about because we got four goals,” said Gayle.

“We lost to Petrojam in our first game in the preliminar­y round, but this is the final and we know that we can get better. We just have to carry our best game to get a positive result,” Gayle said.

Meanwhile, ATL Industrial Group and Peak Bottling will contest the Division Two final.

ATL booked their place in the final after a 1-0 win over newcomers Hinduja Global Solutions on Saturday. Peak Bottling secured their spot in the final with a 2-1 win over National Commercial Bank.
