SIMPLE, SOULFUL and playful are the words that describe the handmade wire pieces designed by 23year-old Christen Ramos. A jewellery lover from as long as she can remember, Ramos recalls saving her lunch money to buy unusual pieces of wire and materials to create different designs. After much practice, she realised her talent, and this fuelled her passion for designing and creating jewellery. Making her first piece in 2014, Ramos continues to challenge her creativity, drawing inspiration from trends and her own sense of style. “I try to make unique pieces that will appeal to persons across the board. No matter your sense of style, there is a piece here for you, and if not, we can design the perfect piece to satisfy your taste,” she told Flair. Most days Ramos is pursuing her law degree at the University of the West Indies while working on the Reducing the Impact of Violence (RIV) programme at the Jamaica Red Cross, while pouring her heart into her jewellery on others. With tassels being a big trend right now, her latter pieces are centred around it, with her putting her own spin on it to make it edgy and chic. “Chrissy’s Coils tassel earrings are for those who wish to indulge in the trend, but not in the conventional way,” she said.
