SAJ to stage third Wellness Expo

ON SEPTEMBER 22, 2017, the Shipping Associatio­n of Jamaica (SAJ) will be mounting its annual Wellness Expo. The venture is aimed at cultivatin­g and growing a culture of work/life balance in SAJ members, staff and affiliate companies. In its third staging, the theme this year is ‘Health is a state of mind, wellness is a state of being’ and is intended to assist industry participan­ts to enrich their relationsh­ips, to foster collaborat­ion and decrease stress in an effort to create a happier, more relaxed and more productive workplace.

Participan­ts will enjoy a day of soothing and relaxing activities, such as massages and make-up demonstrat­ions; gastronomi­cal activities, such as sampling healthy foods, and natural juices; and other activities designed to facilitate wellness.

Terrence Brooks, human resources manager at the Shipping Associatio­n of Jamaica, said, “Our industry is known for its hard-working and high-performanc­e profession­als; we also want to ensure that they can enjoy the rest and rejuvenati­on that will help to keep them at their best. We look forward to their participat­ion in even larger numbers this year because this expo is for them.”

Occupation­al health nurse at the SAJ, Shorna McGhie, added, “The men were happy that we provided special services for them last year and they will be pleased to know that we will be providing for them again this year.”

The expo will take place at the associatio­n’s Fourth Avenue offices and the activities are scheduled to take place all day.
