ALTHOUGH THERE is a new number one in Back to My Roots by JamStylezMusic, four of the 15 albums on the Billboard Reggae Chart are by Jamaican performers. Two of them – Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley’s Stony Hill (at number two in its fifth week on the chart) and Chronixx’s Chronology (at number three in its seventh week on the ranking) – are in the top five. On this listing for the week of September 9, Marley retains his position from last week, while Chronixx inches up a place from his previous number four position.
Sizzla’s I’m Yours has taken a fall from last week’s number three, to stand at number 13, and Morgan Heritage’s Avrekadabra has renewed lease on chart life, re-entering the listing to cling to 15th place.
Major Lazer’s Know No Better EP moves from number seven to four... so far it has spent 13 weeks on the listing. The top five is completed by Live My Life Again, a multi-artiste album credited to Perfect Giddimani, which features Anthony B and Lutan Fyah, among others.
Perennial Billboard Reggae Chart performers, Rebelution, are at number six with Falling Into Place, which is now in its 64th week on the chart. Reggae Gold 2017, which has Spice’s Sheet, Style V’s Me Love My Fatty and Aidonia’s Banga among its 17 tracks, is at number eight, Rebelution has another long stayer, Live at Red Rocks, at number nine in its 43rd week on the chart and This is Trojan compilation rounds out the top 10.
J Boog’s Wash House Ting is showing stamina at number 11 in its 33rd week on the chart and the Soca Gold compilation is just behind. In-between Sizzla and Morgan Heritage is Common Kings’
