Jerohn Brown shines at York Castle High
IN TRUE York Castle High School tradition, several students did well in the 2017 CSEC examinations, with Jerohn Brown being one of those who excelled.
After scoring grade ones in mathematics and English last year (along with Communications in CAPE, for which he scored a grade two), Jerohn returned this year to register ones in seven more subjects, namely, additional maths, chemistry, French, Spanish, physics, information technology and social studies.
Fresh from that achievement, he started sixth form at York Castle on Monday and it was after school that The Gleaner spoke with him.
“I was very confident I would have done well,” he said, pointing out that he had been doing well throughout high school. Looking back, he is glad it’s all over.
“Right now I’m feeling very relieved that it’s over as it was very stressing,” Jerohn, who lives in Farm Town with his parents, Yvonne and Enos Brown, admitted.
Despite that admission, Jerohn is looking forward to sixth form as he sets his sights on becoming a chemical engineer.
“From a young age I always liked science, I like using raw material to make something more useful,” he explained as his reason for the career choice.
“For CAPE I hope to do my best. I’ll be doing pure maths, chemistry, physics, computer science and Caribbean studies.”
Jerohn’s mom could hardly contain her joy when she spoke about his achievement.
“I feel very good, especially for the fact that he maintained his grades over the years; all through the years he has been performing well,” Mrs Brown said.
“We’re feeling very, very good, we had no doubt he would have done well.”
Principal at York Castle, Raymon Treasure, in hailing another successful year at the school, told The Gleaner that the institution continues to provide a level of education that is parallel to anywhere in Jamaica.
