Number one changes, new Ziggy set at 13

FOR THE second consecutive week there is a new number one song on the iTunes Reggae Albums chart, as Every Posse (Ooklah the Mac) was listed as the top-selling album on the electronic platform up to the wee hours of yesterday morning. Last week’s number one, Fabric (The Black Seeds), is now at number six, tumbling past the Marley father-son pair of Bob and Damian; the latter’s Stony Hill is sandwiched at number three by Bob’s Legend (Remastered) at number two and Legend (Deluxe) at four.
Completing the top five is Stick Figure’s Set in Stone.

(Chronixx) has slipped somewhat to be at number eight, while Ziggy Marley’s We Are the People Tour (Live), which ha s a release date of September 8, is at No. 13. Among the 17 tracks on the most recent Reggae Grammy winner’s in concert set are songs of his that should be familiar to a Jamaican audience, such as True to Myself and Tomorrow People. Six tracks by Bob Marley and the Wailers – Positive Vibrations, Stir it Up, Jamming, One Love and Exodus – are on the set. Love is My Religion is the 11th song on that set and Ziggy’s Love is My Religion album, which has a release date of July 1, 2006, is at number 29. New albums come and go, but the tried and true names tend to keep a consistent presence on the iTunes ranking. So Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection is No. 21, three places ahead of Steel Pulse’s True Dexta Daps Democracy. Iration, Tribal Seeds, Stick Figure and Rebelution all have more than one album on the chart, then there is the soca set Turn Up by Bunji Garlin closing of the top 30.
Dexta Daps has landed the number 31 spot this week with his Intro EP of 12 tracks. With a release date of March this year, naturally Owner is on the set, along with Grow Rough and She Good, which features Alaine.
Jah Cure’s The Cure is enjoying another burst of energy at number 55, as is Buju Banton’s Inna Heights at No. 56 (his Til Shiloh is in the number 34 spot, while Jah Cure’s World Cry is No. 84). Alkaline’s New Level Unlocked is at No. 58
Also popping up with a new lease on life are Dennis Brown’s Love & Hate (No. 76) and Eek-A-Mouse’s Wa-DoDem, which has a release date of December 1981. Another 1981 album, Freddie McGregor’s Big Ship, is the number 96 set, just ahead of Assassin’s Theory of Reggaetivity.
