Burton leads Holy Trinity to second win

- Marc Stamp Gleaner Writer

HOLY TRINITY’S central defender Fabrizzio Burton put in a wonderful all-round performance as his team made it two from two in the ISSAFLOW Manning Cup Group F encounter at Bell Chung Stadium yesterday.

The Devon Andersoncoached Holy Trinity slammed Ascot High 5-1, courtesy of Burton’s double in the seventh and 15th minutes. Other scorers for the group leaders were Raheem Francis (14th), Dillion McEnnis (44th) and substitute Travair Hutchinson (90th).

Ascot’s second half substitute, Romaine Onfroy, scored his team’s consolation goal in the 89th minute.

It was a dominant performance by Holy Trinity as they outplayed the Portmore-based Ascot, especially in the first 45 minutes.

Burton, who gave a man-ofthe-match performance, was very elated after the match.

BURTON ELATED

“I am pleased with my performance. I led my team in defence and attack. I am elated about the two goals, especially the free kick taken from just outside the 18-yard area,” an obviously delighted Burton told The Sunday Gleaner.

“I am a bit disappointed with the team’s performance in the second half. After scoring four goals, we relaxed,” the 18-year-old fifth-form student reasoned.

Burton is looking forward to his team doing well in the Manning Cup and moving on to the prestigious FLOW Super Cup. Fabrizzio Burton of Holy Trinity High.

“I want to win the FLOW Cup because we have a good team. We will continue to work hard in the remaining group games,” he added.

Holy Trinity coach Devon ‘Pablo’ Anderson was, however, not pleased with his team’s overall performance. “We eased off the pedal and gave away a goal. I am not pleased,” he said.
