Great milestones have been achieved

-

THE DEPARTMENT of Co-operatives and Friendly Societies would like to congratulate St Elizabeth Co-operative Credit Union Limited (STECCUL) on achieving a tremendous milestone in its financial life. STECCUL, now celebrating its 45th anniversary, has had its fair share of rough patches, but through the hard work and determination of all officers, staff and volunteers, as well as the dedication of its thousands of members, great milestones were achieved.

Established in the 1970s by businessmen Standford Birthwright and Trevor Myers, who identified the need for thrift and a source for loan funds for the social and economic development for the town of Santa Cruz, the STECCUL took form and on March 21, 1972, the Registrar of Co-operative Societies and Friendly Societies effected the registration.

12TH LARGEST CREDIT UNION

Currently with an asset base of $2.1 billion and membership of more than 29,000, the STECCUL is ranked the 12th-largest in Jamaica out of 29 credit unions as at March 2017.

As the regulators of the movement, we are committed to providing the support and guidance, thus ensuring that the credit union’s operations continue to withstand the highest level of probity while safeguarding the members’ interest.

It is anticipated that STECCUL will achieve, through strategic vision, many more successful years for it members, as the credit union has been ‘Changing Lives, Building Communities’ in the movement over the last 20 years. ERROL GALLIMORE Registrar Co-operative Societies And Friendly Societies
