Congratulations and best wishes
THE BOARD of directors of the Jamaica Co-operative Credit Union League (JCCUL), the apex body of the Jamaican Credit Union Movement, extends congratulations and best wishes to the volunteers, management, staff, and members of the St Elizabeth Co-operative Credit Union (STECCU) on this your 45th anniversary.
This momentous occasion, for which you must be justly ... the STECCU has, for the last 45 years, fortified itself with a philosophy of service above self and a culture that demonstrates, time and again, that as a movement, we are indeed our brother’s keeper. proud, is in acknowledgement and recognition of 45 years of sterling contribution and distinguished service to your members and communities of St Elizabeth. That this event should be taking place at a time when the movement is celebrating its 75th anniversary makes the occasion even more special.
OUR BROTHER’S KEEPER
Forty-five years in the life of any organisation is a significant milestone, considering that 90 per cent of all new businesses fail within their first three years. Founded on the principles of democracy, social justice, and economic empowerment for the working class, the STECCU has, for the last 45 years, fortified itself with a philosophy of service above self and a culture that demonstrates, time and again, that as a movement, we are indeed our brother’s keeper.
Over these last 45 years, the STECCU has been nurtured and sustained by generations of leaders who volunteered their time and expertise in formulating policies, designing products, and delivering services that have been satisfying the needs of their members.
CATALYST FOR CHANGE
This celebration comes at a time when the paradigm is about to shift, with the movement transitioning from a regime of self-regulation by JCCUL to one by the Bank of Jamaica. As leaders at this critical juncture, you must see yourselves, not only as vanguards of the STECCU, but also of the wider movement. You must become catalysts for change, the type of change that will bring about transformation, growth, and sustainability.
So as you celebrate 45 years of solid achievements and prepare to transition into the new dispensation, may you go with courage and confidence, secure in the knowledge that the credit union principles that have sustained you over the last 45 years are the ties that will bind you morally and socially together, as much as they will continue to define and differentiate you from your competitors, as you continue in your quest of ‘Changing Lives and Building Communities’.
Congratulations and best wishes to the volunteers, management, staff, and members of the STECCU on this your 45th anniversary. WINSTON C. FLETCHER President Board of Directors, JCCUL
