A milestone worth commemorating
ASIGNIFICANT milestone in the life of any organisation is worth commemorating. Today, on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the St Elizabeth Co-operative Credit Union (STECCUL), I warmly congratulate and extend best wishes to our members, management and staff on this memorable achievement.
It was on March 21, 1972, that STECCUL was officially registered. It is with a sense of profound gratitude that I extend appreciation to our founding fathers, Stanford Birthwright and Trevor Myers, who had the vision and the inseparable love of service which started this credit union in 1970, hence our registration in 1972.
Sincere gratitude must also be expressed to May White and Maisie Johnson, who have served the credit union faithfully and well. For those who have paved the way and poised the credit union for the success it has attained over the years, our past presidents, board of directors, credit and supervisory committees, management and staff, I extend profound appreciation. To our members who have remained loyal and supportive – we could not have made it without you.
Our success today is supported by our strategic planning over the years. This has helped to enhance growth, direction and the positive impact the credit union has had on our membership and by extension our communities. STECCUL has helped to shape and improve the lives of its members and is a household name in every family. We have been indeed the ‘Leader in Changing Lives’.
STECCUL’s accomplishments boast an asset size of $2.1 billion, with more than 29,000 members. Our head office is located at 4-6 LA Beadle Plaza, Santa Cruz, and there are three service centres strategically located at Junction, Black River and Appleton to serve our members.
To our employees, members, friends, and other stakeholders, I express my sincere gratitude for your continued commitment, dedication and loyalty to STECCUL. Special mention must be made, however, of Mr Fitz Rowe, who has served St Elizabeth Co-operative Credit Union for 37 years in the capacity of general manager. Mr Rowe, we recognise your invaluable contribution, commitment and dedication to STECCUL and we salute you for the indelible way you have led this organisation from infancy to maturity. We further salute you for your sterling contribution to the credit union movement nationally.
REMAINING RELEVANT
We are now in a new era where changes and challenges are eminent and we have to adjust to survive and maintain our relevance in society. We are committed to serving our members and meeting their needs. STECCUL continues to place emphasis on enlightening and engaging our youth on financial management, as they will become our future.
I am humbled by the opportunity and deem it an honour to be serving in this capacity, at this noble institution, with the past and the current cadre of directors, to achieve the organisation’s goals for the year 2017 and beyond. We will continue to remain a high-quality, trusted, efficient, reliable and member-oriented organisation, as we continue ‘Changing Lives and Building Communities’.
May God continue to bless you all. NORMA NEIL Chairman
