Jamaica Bridal Expo thrills the Second City

-

THE SECOND City was about all things wedding at the Jamaica Bridal Expo held at the Montego Bay Convention Centre recently. From the main ingredient of the dress to exciting sides ranging from venue to floral arrangement, you name it, they had it.

House of Flowers (HOF) Decor, newcomer to the local event decor fraternity, launched its suite of wedding design elements and services with the concept of a wedding ceremony on day one of the two-day expo. Mr and Mrs HOF were presented following an elaborate garden ceremony, followed by a reception, set in an oversized booth space.

But despite the high range of decor services they offer, ranging from weddings, corporate function, trade shows, and parties, when it comes to wedding there are certain things they advise their clients to keep in mind.

1 Decide on your budget and stick to it.

Often, the main props you want will only be used for your wedding day. Renting items such as linens and tableware can cut costs.

2 Ensure that you do your research!

Have an idea of what you want for your wedding – Pinterest is a good source of inspiration.

3 Decide on a colour palette/scheme.

Instead of choosing just two colours, integrating different shades of your main colours while throwing in complementary colours adds depth to your overall look.

4 Lighting sets the mood.

It may be obvious, but lighting can transform your venue and make it really stand out. Whether you decide to use string lights, pillar candles in tall glass vases, chandeliers or mini votives, you can use different lighting styles to distinguish each space and set the various mood of each space.

5 Use flowers in unconventional ways.

Flowers are not just bouquets and centrepieces. Consider using flowers to frame your altar, or line your walkway with floral aisle markers. All eyes will be on you, and it will add that wow factor to important photos you take – like walking down the aisle. Everyone has heard that old phrase “less is more”. Always remember that simplicity is key. A few key elements will stand out more than a decor overload for a wedding.
