Jesse Royal’s ‘Lily of da Valley’ number one
JESSE ROYAL’S debut album, Lily of da Valley, is the number one set on the iTunes listing of top-selling reggae albums as of yesterday morning.
The new release has 14 tracks, opening with 400 Years and closing with Jah Will See Us Through. The songs inbetween include Generation (featuring Jo Mersa Marley), the long-standing Modern Day Judas, Real Love, Stand Firm and Rock it Tonight.
Next in line at number two is Landon McNamara’s A Dollar Short & A Minute Late, a 2016 release which is enjoying yet another surge of popularity. The rest of the top five is Marley territory, as the Bob Marley and the Wailers pair of Legend (Remastered) and Legend (Deluxe) in third and fifth, respectively, with Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley’s Stony Hill sandwiched in-between.
Chronology (Chronixx) is holding firm at number six and there are two new releases in the second half of the top 10 – The Science of Numbers by Project 432 is at number nine and just behind is Daylight (The Selector).
Macka B’s set dedicated to better physical and mental wellbeing, Health is Wealth, holds the number 13 spot. Among its 16 tracks are Wha Me Eat (Remix), Natural Herb and Lyrical Chef. It is not all food, as there are the back-to-back tracks, Legendary Reggae Icons and ’70s Legendary Reggae Icons. Maxi Priest is the guest on Jah Jah Children.
Best of Shaggy: the Boombastic Collection closes off the top 20.
The re-release Super Ape Returns to Conquer (Subatomic Sound System and Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry) holds the number 27 spot and Snoop’s Reincarnated (Deluxe Version) is enjoying another burst of energy, taking position number 31.
The deejays make it three in a row close to the end of the listing. Pon di Gaza 2.0 (Vybz Kartel) is at 96, Shabba Ranks’ Greatest Hits is at number 97 and Popcaan’s Where We Come From is 98th.
