Duckie returns to Effortville
TODAY’S RED Stripe Premier League (RSPL) action promises to be very exciting, with a number of intriguing encounters but the one that most catches the eye is the Humble Lion-Waterhouse clash at Effortville.
This match features the return of Donovan Duckie, who has had the most success with Humble Lion and who left the club by mutual agreement in the preseason after ending last season with the most points. Lenworth Hyde, the man who took over from Duckie, also coached alongside him at the national Under-20 level.
“The type of season that we have been having so far is not good, but we have been focusing on motivating the players. They know it is time to turn it around and they are motivated to play,” technical director and Humble Lion stalwart Anthony Pringle said.
Duckie’s presence on the opposition bench will be added motivation for his team, Pringle indicated.
“The community will not want to take a beating from him. It will be a highly charged game I believe.
“When you look at our statistics, nine games, eight points, and only nine goals scored with 14 against, we have a lot of work to do, therefore, our objective is to get some points, and we certainly can’t take a defeat from Duckie. Waterhouse

are basically having a similar season, too, so that should make it even more interesting and charged,” Pringle added.
JUST ANOTHER GAME
Duckie, for his part, while being very much aware of all that will be considered, sees it as just another game. Or so he said.
“It is just another game for me. What we have started at Waterhouse since the two weeks there has been positive. Going to Montego Bay for the first game, the only negative I can think of is the loss. Everything else was positive.
“Humble Lion are no different for me. They might not be enjoying good form right now, but they are a quality team with quality players, and they could turn it around at any time,” said Duckie.
Duckie, who has family in the community that houses Humble Lion and views it as a second home, said that the parting between him and Humble Lion was an amicable one.
“I have a lot of respect for the organisation there, what they have accomplished, and what they are trying to accomplish. There is no bad blood between us at and the players and I are good,” said Duckie, who is trying to lift his 10th-place Waterhouse from the wrong half of the table. Getting the better of ninth-place Humble Lion is just one step in that direction, he stated.
Another big match should be the Portmore United-Montego Bay United affair at the Spanish Town Prison Oval. Here, the home team should have the edge, but with Dino Williams back in action, Montego Bay United cannot be counted out.
