Batman couldn’t stop Harvey
Affleck sorry for breast groping
BEN AFFLECK “knew” Harvey Weinstein was “sleazy”, but didn’t think he could do anything about it.
The 65-year-old disgraced producer has been accused of sexually harassing more than 80 female employees over a 30-year period. Now, Justice League actor Ben has said that when he started out in Hollywood at the age of 24, he was made aware of Harvey’s alleged misconduct, but didn’t think he had the power to do anything to stop it.
Ben, now 45, said: “I knew he was sleazy and kind of a bully but, unfortunately, that wasn’t uncommon. I was brand new to Hollywood ... I was 24 years old. I had never made a movie and didn’t know much of anything, really.”
The Hollywood hunk worked with Harvey on movies including Good Will Hunting and Shakespeare In Love. And whilst he no longer has ties with The Weinstein Company – which Harvey was recently fired from – he can’t help but look back on his old flicks and wonder what was happening behind the scenes.
Affleck has vowed to be more “accountable” for his actions after he was accused of groping a woman’s breasts. The Justice
League actor previously apologised to Hilarie Burton after she accused him of touching her inappropriately during an MTV interview in 2003.
Affleck said: “What I was accused of by a woman was of touching her breast while giving her a hug. I don’t remember it, but I absolutely apologised for it. I certainly don’t think she’s lying or making it up.
“It’s just the kind of thing we have to as men, as we become more aware of this, be more mindful of our behaviour and hold ourselves accountable and say, ‘if I was ever part of the problem, I want to change. I want to be part of the solution.’
The Argo film-maker previously apologised after a fan said of him on Twitter: “He also grabbed Hilarie Burton’s breasts on TRL once. Everyone forgot though.” Hilarie, 35, replied: “I didn’t forget.”
Ben then took to Twitter to say: “I acted inappropriately toward Ms Burton and I sincerely apologise.”
