Imparting knowledge through clay creations
THE TEACHING of ceramics has being a fulfilling experience for St Catherine resident Andrenique Morgan, who teaches art at the Eltham High School in Spanish Town, St Catherine.
He told Arts & Education that he believes that art is an agent of change.
“Over the nine years at the school, I find art to be an effective communication method to my students, which has resulted in them expressing themselves through the clay. There can be no greater feeling than to impart practical knowledge and see it develop before your eyes,” Morgan said.
Morgan, who holds a bachelor’s degree in visual arts from the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, said that getting certification was a key component of his journey.
“I was encouraged to study it (art) while I worked at Wassi Arts in Ocho Rios St Ann, and I have absolutely no regrets in formalising my training as it has Andrenique Morgan holds one of his creations.

He told Arts & Education that ceramics is very hard work that finds one working until late at night after leaving school (work) to finish projects.
Morgan said that he uses the inspiration of nature such as plants to complete artistic delivery.
“My art form can be seen all
over, therefore, it feels good that I am doing what I love, and in so doing, continue to touch many lives, while making an honest living from it,” he said.
Morgan is also the president of the Association of Jamaican Potters and seeks to continue his artistic journey.
