Get the wedding make-up glow

-

FINDING THE right make-up artist to add that extra glow is like the icing on the cake when it comes to a bride’s wedding day look, but it is the skin underneath that truly gives you that added glow. Professional make-up artist Claudia Buchanan-Morris tells Flair that brides should actually avoid starting a new skincare routine just before the wedding day. There is a possibility that breakouts might occur with a new regimen, and brides, whether or not they are going to go with make-up, would much rather remain blemish free for that day. If a bride is considering a facial, she usually advises her clients to do so two to three weeks before the big day. Some facials cause the skin to peel, which causes dryness and in some cases a few pimples. Hydration is also key from the inside out. The more hydrated you are the better the skin looks. Thus, she always recommends to her clients to drink a lot of water and to moisturise daily. When it comes to the wedding day and the make-up, one should go for something timeless. “When you look back at your wedding photos 10 to 15 years down the road you shouldn’t be wishing you had got your make-up done by someone else. Less is truly more, not just in terms of the appearance of your make-up but your wedding day should be flawless, you should look flawless, you shouldn’t have to be worrying about your make-up getting all over your dress or your spouse’s tuxedo,” said Buchanan-Morris. When it comes to that perfect make-up, here are five tips courtesy of Buchanan-Morris

Keep your make-up clean, simple and timeless while focusing on a naturally glowing skin.

Never book a make-up artist without viewing their work, and if you are unsure, book a bridal trial. Your wedding day is not the time for trial and error.

Book a professional make-up artist. You want make-up that will last up to seven to eight hours. Bridal make-up application is much more than brows and powder. Using the right products, especially a good foundation, primer and setting spray, waterproof mascara, etc, and technique are important.

Don’t go too glossy or too matte on the lips. Too glossy will disappear in minutes while too matte can leave your lips looking cakey or dry. A satin finish lipstick will keep your lips looking great throughout the day.

Don’t be afraid to add a little drama to the eyes, and by this it does not mean that you will use a bright eyeshadow or dramatic wing liners but you can use lash extensions, shimmer eyeshadow, a cut crease or even a smokey eye. However, bold eyes require simple, natural, soft lips to balance out the look. Don’t go too over the top.
