Jungle Fire BUFFET STYLE

- Rasbert Turner/Gleaner Writer

THE OPERATORS of Jungle Fire Restaurant have given the Portmore, St Catherine, community its first buffet-style restaurant, where food is sold by weight.

The restaurant opened last September at the Big Buy Plaza. At the opening, there was a magnificent display of food, including pork ribs, jerked chicken, peppered steak, jerked pork, fried fish, steak, vegetable dishes, Spanish rice, rice and peas, and other options.

The operators believe that the restaurant fits with the vibe of the community.

“There are a number of food establishments in Portmore, but this is the first buffet-style restaurant, and we look forward to feeding the people here,” said proprietor Franklin Mason.

He said that the restaurant is open from 7 a.m. daily with a breakfast menu.

“We will sell a breakfast for $250 per pound, and for $700, you eat all you can. We move to lunch, which will cost $1,400, and it is the same for other meals. We simply aim to please with something different,” Mason said.

Persons who turned out for the opening were of the view that this novel approach has great potential with proper management.

“He has the only buffet restaurant in Portmore. That means that the place will take off, especially seeing that the owner has a reputation for sound business operation,” said Sophia Fairman.

Her view was echoed by Carol Harker.

“This a great place; lovely view and a good ambiance. It means that this is a great investment that will yield great returns.”
