The media have lost a rare gem

-

OUR BOARDS of directors, managers, staff members and freelancers pay tribute to our friend and colleague Ian Boyne for the outstanding work he has done in our group through several media platforms, including print columns, radio and television (Religious Hardtalk). We have enjoyed the instances of collegiality, the periods of learning, the nuggets of wisdom, the moments of inspiration, encouragement and motivation he gave us.

Ian was confident with a warm personality and an engaging manner. He took his work seriously and respected all of us who were a part of his team of success. He was never selfish with his knowledge and many of us grew, as he grew.

He was a professional, knew what was required for excellence in our business and committed to the consistent best delivery of it. Ian was a brave but respectful journalist. There was no question he was afraid to ask, but he know how to skilfully position his question for an answer he already knew. He was adept at meeting the obligations of a government information service as well as a commercial broadcaster, at quoting the scriptures, as well as raising the popular reggae music songs.

He was a relationship builder at all levels, including with clients and advertisers, but was morally grounded, never to cross the clear lines between his journalistic independence and making his work commercially appealing.

In all these respects, Ian Boyne was a rare gem in our media and communications industry, a gem to work with and a jewel we will continue to hold in our hearts for many, many years to come. GARY ALLEN CEO RJRGLEANER Communications Group
