Theoc hired by Mayberry
DAN THEOC, who up until last November was chief financial officer for power utility Jamaica Public Service Company, has been hired by Mayberry Investments Limited, effective January 15.
In his new job as senior vicepresident for energy, Theoc will be responsible for business development within the sector on behalf of the financial advisory firm.
He left JPS after 16 years in the company’s employ and three months into a change of leadership at the utility. While there, he had direct oversight over all of the finance, planning and accounting functions, in addition to regulatory tariff filings.
Theoc worked at KPMG for approximately 12 years in various positions before joining the utility.
“I recently resigned from my role as CFO at JPS – a leading utility in the Caribbean with over US$1b in gross assets and US$700m in annual turnover – where I gained a vast wealth of experience in dealing with large. complex infrastructure projects and the related long-term financing,” he said on his CV, seen by the
Financial Gleaner.
“In this role, I often met with shareholders, board members, ministers and regulators as we sought to restructure the energy sector in a way that would allow Jamaica to be able to attract much-needed capital to revamp the sector. Accordingly, it should be no surprise that as I move on from JPS, that I have a strong desire to move into the financial sector space, where I may continue to use my skills in a meaningful way,” Theoc said.
