A formidable pillar of the J’can society
AS THE world pauses to celebrate International Customs Day on January 26, the Jamaica Manufacturers’ Association (JMA) takes this opportunity to extend sincere congratulations to the Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA) on their continued growth and achievements to date.
The JCA has been a formidable pillar of the Jamaican society. Throughout the past few years, the Agency has recorded continuous development, acquiring new technologies, improving procedures, and establishing more efficient ways of communicating with the public. The agency has been strident in protecting the community from potential risks arising from international trade, while facilitating the legitimate movement of goods across the border. It is against this background that the JCA remains a constructive and resourceful partner of the JMA.
As part of its mandate to support entities with navigating difficulties regarding imports and exports, the JMA fully endorses this year’s International Customs Day theme: ‘A secure business environment for economic development’. The long-term commercial viability of our manufacturing and business communities, however, largely depend on stakeholders joining forces. If we, government and non-government agencies alike, wish to foster a growthoriented business and investment climate, the challenges we face must be met with a united determination to succeed against those environmental pressures that constrain manufacturing, trade, and the overall expansion of ‘Brand Jamaica’.
The JMA looks forward to working with the JCA in building even deeper relationships, developing stronger policies, and creating greater initiatives that will achieve economic progress, elevating Jamaica’s manufacturing and business communities to the altitude they belong.
Once again, we congratulate the agency and wish for you a successful week of activities.
