RUBiS donates smart TV to Kingston East police
PETROLEUM MARKETING company RUBiS Energy Jamaica Limited has donated a smart television to the Kingston East Police Division. The television was presented at the RUBiS headquarters on Thursday, February 1.
The management of RUBiS made the donation of the 40-inch television following a meeting with the commanding officers of the Kingston East Division where the needs of the police division were highlighted.
The television set is equipped with integrated Internet and interactive ‘Web 2.0’ features and can also provide Internet TV, online interactive media, over-the-top content (OTT), as well as on-demand streaming media.
“We were told one of the needs of the station was a smart television, so we immediately went about procuring one for the force as RUBiS is committed to assisting the force in their crimefighting initiatives,” said Chief Executive Officer of RUBiS Alain Carreau.
Incoming commanding officer of the division, Superintendent Victor Hamilton, said the television will be an important tool in their operation.
“The main purpose is to retrofit the operation’s room, which is basically the engine to the police station. That is where we meet to plan a strategy; that is where we meet to have lectures, so it will serve as a monitor to put up maps so that we can project what various tasks are about,” he explained.
Outgoing commanding officer of Kingston East Division, Superintendent Robert Walker, pointed to the use of televisions in popular American police procedural TV series, such as NCIS, as the vision the police force has for the use of technology in their crime-fighting strategies.
