Easter Bun and Cheese treat April 2017

-

WITH THE team being led by our own energetic dynamo, Karen Hoo, the Chinese Benevolent Association (CBA) Bun and Cheese treat took place on Good Friday, April 14, 2017. Karen collected buns from Purity Bakery and Jack’s Bakery, who are always so generous with donations of their delicious buns.

Our volunteers gathered at the CBA Centre on Holy Thursday to cut and individually package the sandwiches for distribution.

The CBA bought cheese from Universal Cash n Carry (UCC), and Gary Hugh Sam of UCC donated lotions, deodorants, shampoos, and other items that we donated to the homes visited. Paper Place presented a cheque for $20,000 to Mustard Seed Communities on behalf of the CBA.

Many thanks go out to our hard-working volunteers who helped with the preparation of the buns:

■ Peter Hugh and his son, Matthew

■ Jared Lescene ■ Dominic Forte

■ Sandy Chung

■ Roger Chang

■ Willie Chong

■ Karen, Damian, and Gabrielle Hoo

The volunteers who went the extra mile to distribute the bun and cheese sandwiches were: ■ Roger Chang

■ Shilli Yang

■ Jared Lescene

■ Damian, Karen and Gabrielle Hoo

We are so grateful to Karen, who continues to drive this important CBA Easter time tradition and lead our great team of volunteers.
