SOME OF us go through life, but then there are others that actually live life enjoying our jobs, impacting lives and family, and Andrew

Bellamy is one of those persons.

A family man, politician and promoter, he tries to fulfil every area of his life. He does not call it a balancing act because he is still learning how to invest equally in every area.

“For me, it’s God first, followed by family, friends and my callings to serve in areas of business, politics and entertainment. God gave me the desire to entertain, serve people, and practise business. It’s the same God that has blessed me with a supportive and understanding wife, amazing children, supporting family and friends, and probably the most important element, good business partners, and team players which when combined allow me to juggle so much,” he told Flair.

It is coming up to carnival and the man behind Xaymaca is back at it. He has returned with his amazing team to top what they did last year. Known as a stalwart in the entertainment industry, Bellamy boasts over 15 years of carnival experience. It is no surprise that he is leader of one of the most luxurious bands in Jamaica.

Bellamy grew up on the influences of the musical greats of Sparrow and Fab 5 and having a wife that hails from the

country with the most coveted carnival, Trinidad, was just a gift. Xaymaca was born out of the need to “give life to a Jamaican band that represented our local creativity, our expert ability and our natural drive to deliver a premium carnival band experience that can stand against any international product”, he shared.

REPRESENTING JAMAICA

As for the name, even though soca carnival was not created by Jamaicans, he wanted the band to represent Jamaica’s uniqueness, innovativeness, cultural diversity, with the ability to rival the best international band. To do this, he knew he had to round up a team that has had experience in the industry, well travelled and worked with other bands internationally. He did his own research and teamed up with Tribe out of Trinidad.

“Tribe is the largest carnival conglomerate in the world, which brings immediate credibility and expertise to the table for Xaymaca,” Bellamy said.

Working in this industry takes a lot of time and effort. People see the fun and vibes but the business is one that keeps you on your toes. He recognises this and is always motivated by the success of the last event, and always aims to outdo its success.

Surprisingly, with all his talents which pushes him to be outgoing, he admits that he is an introvert at heart. Spending his downtime fishing, hunting and travelling.

But when it is time to unwind, he spends it with friends and family or just watching a good movie, and of course the occasional exercise to keep the blood pumping.
