ONE OF the highlights of doing our subscription boxes is having the opportunity to work with local superheroes, the special league of women entrepreneurs who also hold it down on the nine to five.

For this box, we’re partnering with administrator at the Early Childhood Commission by day and Girl Boss by night, Tonisha NGozi, to create an exclusive fragrance, perfect for a night of unwinding and relaxing in her line of candles, NGozi Sweet Blessings.

“I’m excited and nervous for the opportunity,” shares the 26-year-old candle maker. “Usually I’m consulting with customers on a oneon-one basis so conceptualising a fragrance that will be loved by hundreds of subscribers will be challenging for sure, but totally worth it.

TIMING

NGozi has been making candles for almost a decade, but brought her business mainstream a little over three years ago. “It’s all about timing,” she shared with excitement. “I’ve actually been a Sugarplum Box subscriber for a very long time, so to now have the experience of being a box participant is pretty cool. I can’t wait to get the NGozi experience into new hands and hearts, and of course, to hear the feedback from everyone.”

As a part of the Sugarplum Box rebranding, we’ve now added a subscriber profile to our website. “Subscribers get their say in how we curate boxes,” explained Marsha McFarlane, chief excitement officer for Sugarplum.

When we last checked, the fragrance profile of choice was fresh linen meets floral meets citrus undertones so it’s safe to say that’s our marker. Quoting Ingrid Riley of Silicon Caribe recently, “the brand that knows their customer the most, wins.”

The Beauty Slaycation box is the first in a series of 10 boxes to be cocurated by Sugarplum and the Flair Magazine editorial team. It’s the most unique lifestyle offering in the market with plans to make it even bigger in the future. Sugarplum subscribers will experience products they may have never heard of or tried before and the products will be delivered to their doorsteps with free shipping anywhere in Jamaica, the subscribers will also get to hear the stories behind the scenes through different forms of media content powered by The Gleaner.
