Rosie Murray taking another slice out of life

- – K.S.

AFTER SUFFERING a major hear t attack i n December 2017, beloved actress Rosie Murray’s road to recovery is paved by the prayers, charity and the unexpected support of the vibrant theatre community.

Following the news of two nominations for this year’s Actor Boy Awards for her production Slice of Life, the long-time media professional is working to get back in the saddle – to include the recent harrowing, but ultimately rewarding experience.

“I’m so happy to report that I am recuperating well. My surgery has been successful – three stems have been put in.

I am still on quite a portion of medication, exercise and a strict diet. But I’m so giving thanks – one month and a couple of weeks after, I am at this place,” Murray told The Gleaner.

“When I think of how ever yone rallied to support, to send their love – I’m just so overcome sometimes. I go out on the road now and persons just feel welcome to walk up and just give me a hug and say, ‘Thank God you’re all night. Are you okay now? I prayed, my church prayed.’ Children! – that come and say, ‘When I heard you were ill, me and my mother prayed you’d be okay because I love you so much.’ There’s so many times I just go in the car with whole heap of tears, because I feel truly blessed,” the spirited actress reported. Nominated for Best Lead Actress and Best Revue for a production chronicling her reallife experiences, Murray is currently working on the follow-up.

“One of the reasons that I did [ Slice of Life] was that I wanted persons out there to be motivated and inspired, and to let them know that no matter what is happening in your life, you can see the positive. The nominations mean so much to me because, guess what? This is a chronicle of events that have happened in my life,” she told The Gleaner.

“I’m currently working on Slice of Life Some More, or part two – if you wanna call it that. These are some other hurdles that I have covered, some other stories I have to tell. Of course, I have to go through this whole learning curve of what happened before – during the heart attack, after and the recovery mode. And so I just give thanks to still be here to share all of this information with you.”
