QUESTIONS FOR THE EXPERTS

-

1. Which two schools will be crowned champions? State ? the amount of points they’ll run away with at the end of the competition.

2. Which athlete are you excited to see perform, and what matchup you find most interesting, and why?

3. What will be the biggest upset this year?

4. What records are on the line now, and who could break or match them?

DENISE WALTERS

1. Calabar and Edwin Allen. I haven’t got around to tallying points.

2. I want to see Class 3 400m champion Anna Kay Allen in Class 1, now that she’s injury free. The exciting matchup for me is the relays, specifically the 4x400m for boys, as it may decide the championship again.

3. Class 1 boys’ 800m should have some surprises.

4. Most records should be safe. Hoping Chris

Taylor challenge the 400m record.

BRUCE JAMES

1. Edwin Allen for Girls’ Champs – 354. Calabar for Boys’ Champs – 324.

2. The hurdles matchups are very exciting. My favourites being girls’ Class 2 100m hurdles between Crystal Morrison of St Jago and Ackera Nugent of Excelsior. This is because although at different schools and fierce competitors, they are great friends.

On the boys’ side, Rovaine Williams of Rhodes Hall High vs Malik James King of Calabar in the Class 1 400m hurdles, because both have done amazing personal-best performances this year, defeated each other in races leading up to Champs, and are threatening to break the magical 50-second barrier.

3. Romaine Beckford of Buff Bay High in the high jump Class 2 boys.

4. Boys’ 4x4 Calabar, boys’ long jump Class 1, Pinnock – KC. Girls’ 200m Class 2 Kevona Davis – Edwin Allen.
