Peart set to take over at JC

- Robert Bailey/Gleaner Writer

ANDREW PEART is tipped to become Jamaica College’s (JC) new head coach for the school’s Manning Cup team.

The Gleaner understands that Peart, who has been the assistant coach at JC for the past three years, is the clear favourite to replace Miguel Coley, who left the Old Hope Road-based institution in December, after leading them to their fifth straight Manning Cup title last season.

The vastly experienced and successful Coley is now an assistant coach to former Reggae Boyz boss

Winfried Schäfer at Iranian club

Esteghlal FC.

Wayne Robinson, principal of JC, confirmed that Peart was among the candidates that have being interviewed for the job.

“Every coach that coaches at

Jamaica College is in the running for the job, including Mr Pear t,” said

Robinson.

“The process is going on now and so we will not be making any further comments until it is finished, but it won’t be very long from now,” he said.

NO RUSH

Robinson added that they are in no rush to complete the process because they want to ensure that they select the best candidate for the job.

“It is not really a very difficult process, because I have a team around me and I have enough knowledge of what we want to obtain, ”said Robinson.

“I am not doing this alone, but it may seem that way. I am not the only one making this decision and so we will be making an announcement in a very short while,” he said.

Meanwhile, when contacted, Peart, who is also an assistant coach of Red Stripe Premier League outfit UWI FC, said he is indeed very interested in the position.

“Yes, of course, (I am interested) because as a coach, you would want to coach successful teams and Jamaica College is one of them and so it is no different,” said Peart.
