1974:

A new fine of $50 is to be imposed in future on persons who fail to produce a driver ’s licence to the police, as required under the Road Traffic Law. This is a new move by the Government i n its stepped-up campaign against crime i n the country, and is being done by way of an amendment of the Road Traffic Law which has been introduced in the House of Representa­tives by Minister of Works Sydney Pagon. Under the amendment, the fine is being increased from $10, at which it stands at present, to S50. Government’s thinking in the matter is set out in the Memorandum of Objects and Reasons for the bill.

1982:

Boys’ Town scored an upset four-wicket victory over defending Senior Cup champions Melbourne to be one of three teams to gain maximum points at the end of the fourth round of the competitio­n. The other two teams to gain outright victories are Lucas, who defeat Police by nine wickets at Elletson Road, and the JDF, who defeat Kensington by eight wickets at Up Park Camp. In the only drawn match of the round, Allie Thomas of St Catherine scores the fifth century of the round against Kingston at Chedwin Park.

1990:

The only new provision in the Second Supplement­ary Estimate, passed by the House of Representa­tives is the $15 million to cover United States Agency for Internatio­nal Developmen­t local operationa­l expenses.
