Etana retains top spot, Khago makes grand return

-

TWO WEEKS is way, way short of forever, but still Etana’s Reggae Forever is showing signs of staying power with its second consecutive week at the summit of the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart.

Although, as the number one set, Etana’s retention of the number one slot is notable, the latest stage of Khago’s heretoday-gone-tomorrow-returnthe-day-after chart yo-yo movement with his Walk a Mile set, is the striking story of the current Billboard Reggae Albums Chart. It is now at number three, roaring back on to the listing after being nowhere in sight last week. In its five weeks on the chart it has placed only one spot higher.

Also gaining ground is the number two album, the various artistes compilation Tropical

House Cruises to Jamaica. The former number one has halved its standing from last week’s number four position as it hits the three month mark on the chart.

UPS AND DOWNS

The upward movement means that there is some slippage below them, but although it has lost ground, Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley’s Stony Hill has not fallen far from last week’s number two spot to four.

So far, it has spent 36 weeks on the chart. The sole new release making the chart this week, Livin’ The Dream (Seranation) rounds of the top five,

The lower half of the Billboard Reggae Albums Chart, valid up to April 7, is anchored by two returnees. At number 10 is

Inspiration (Soul Reggae Project), with Hollie Cook’s

Vessel of Love one spot ahead. Chronixx’s ‘Chronology’ holds form at number eight in its 37th week on the chart. ‘Sister Caro (Henricci) and

Grateful Dub’ (Roots of Creation) at six and seven, respectively, are both lower than they were last week. The Henricci set was one place higher last week, and Grateful Dub has fallen four places from number three.
